2017 GLE 350 vs BMW X3 & Lexus NX200 | State College, PA

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 vs. The Competition

The search for a new luxury SUV can take some time. There are a lot of competitive options out there, and you want to find the best vehicle for your personality, your lifestyle, and your budget. While this can take several days out of your busy schedule going from lot to lot and website to website, we at Mercedes-Benz of State College want to save you some trouble.  We believe that your luxury car-buying experience should be as easy as and stress-free as possible. So, to save you some time, we've taken one of our luxury SUVs, the GLE 350, and compared it to the BMW X3 and Lexus NX200 to show just where the foundation of luxury sits, we compared the base models of each.

Beginning with cost, out of the four different vehicles, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 has the highest MSRP and the Highest True Market Value. But with that higher price tag comes higher standards of performance and interior features compared to its competition.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 packs the biggest engine. It's the only one that comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that unleashes the most horsepower and most torque--302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque--over an AWD system and a seven-speed shiftable automatic transmission. Like the others, the GLE 350 also comes standard with all-season tires, and alloy wheels. This extra power gives the GLE 350 the extra muscle to do more. Its larger body combines with the horsepower to give the GLE 350 a dominating maximum towing capacity of 6600 pounds. It also has the most storage space both all around and with all seats properly in place.

But beyond the base model, the GLE 350 offers a series of engine options apart from its competitors. For one thing, the GLE 350 also comes in ALL-Wheel Drive as the GLE 350 4MATIC®, and continues to offer the largest engine. The BMX X3 Also features trims in all-wheel drive, the xdrive28i, the xdrive28d, and the xdrive35i. The BMW X3 xDrive28d comes with a four-cylinder diesel engine, and the xDrive35i comes with a 3.0-liter V6 engine. The Lexus NX200's base and F Sport trim levels both only come with a 2.0liter I4 turbo engine. There is also the overall stylish exterior iconic to Mercedes-Benz that sets this SUV apart from the rest.

Interior Features

Inside the five-seat cabin, the GLE 350 joins it competition in offering standard convenience and safety features like the Bluetooth®, Power Seats, and Stability Control, and Child Seat Anchors. But, the GLE 350 separates itself from the pack once again. It is the only vehicle out of the four that comes with standard heated/cooled seats, and it comes available with Mercedes-Benz Mbrace which offers features like Airbag Deployment Notification, Emergency Service, Roadside Assistance and a Concierge Service.

Interior space is also essential to choosing a luxury SUV, and the GLE 350 is the most spacious. Cargo-wise, the GLE 350 has the most maximum cargo space and most cargo space when all seats are in place. It's maximum cargo space is 80.3 cubic feel and when all the seats are in place, it still has 38.2 cubic feet left to space. The Lexus only has 17.7 cubic feet of space with all of the seats in place, and the BMW X3 has 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space.
